What do you want in the next version of cf_GoogleMap

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been concentrating getting a software product out the door and changing jobs as well. It is about time to start on the 1.4 version of the tag. Now is the time to voice your opinion on what you would like to see in the next version of the tag.

This is really great. The question that I can not find anywhere for this tag is, a.) how do I make the address popup not show up and b.) why will it not accept the attributes of maptype and level? I have changed them to maptype="satellite" and level="10" but it stays the same. I have cleared the cache but to no avail. Please help!

Mark,

Both of those items are bugs in the 1.3.x version of the tag. I will add those to the 1.4 development list

I discovered your component today. Very nice... At that point I have one question (or suggestion).

I didn't find any provision for using other display languages. I can get around that partially with the custom information box but the [directions] dialog are still in english and the 'map' 'satellite' 'hybrid' buttons are also in english.

I took a look at the google docs and didn't find anything either. I'm looking for french.

So this could either be a suggestion or a help request!

Thanks for your time.

JF.

I really like your component. I was wondering if you could help me out with something im trying to do. I want to be able to update the map with ajax and im a little confused.

I'm able to geocode the address without a problem, but after I've finished typing a zip-code in a form field how would I send the variables.sAddress.LON and variables.sAddress.LAT to the gm:googlemap or even gm:googlemappoint ?

Right now im working with CF8 so its a little easier, but I cant seem to make this work. Am I missing something?

Hi John -
just checking up on you... another cf blogger pointed out the new nifty 'drag the line to change your route' feature in googlemaps... not sure when they added it but its slick-o-matic for sure. Have you seen that? Any chance you'll be weaving that in to the next version?

anyway thanks for all your work, i LOVE this cfc!

BTW, I did notice an error caused by an incorrectly spelled var name. On lines 45 and 46 of GoogleMap.cfm (v2.0), OvervieMapWidth and OvervieMapHeight should be "Overview"
respectively.

Also, when using the tag, it is important to remember to enclose everything within xmlformat() to escape the ' (single quote) character.

Hi John,

How about the ability to support HTML and customization in the infoWindow? Currently, it has the Get direction form however, it would be nice to be able to add images or links.

Thanks for the great work
Tommy

Hey awesome tag!!! Thank you kindly. What would be nice is the way they overlay map icons from different "My maps" when you check off more then one.

Also, since they now have AJAX API, any way to integrate it with the Libraries that are included in CF8 for an easy integration or better feature set?

Most Definetly I think a variable to enable/disable the info window. I personally would love to see it off.

I am working on the 1.5 version now of the tag. I am working on integrating marker sets, driving directions and feeding in points dynamically via AJAX and a simple XML interface. If you are interested in collaborating and beta testing please drop me an email john [at] blayter [dot] com
